Dolly loved children and they responded by flocking to her, sensing in her a kindred, child-like heart. In searching for a lasting memorial to establish in her name we decided on providing a well for a village in need of clean drinking water. We knew of a local group, h2oforlife that drilled wells in remote villages in Guatemala. We knew the Bartholomew’s who ran the ministry and traveled there every year drilling and maintaining the wells. We had confidence in their dedication to not only drill wells for clean drinking water but also to give the water of spiritual life. As Jesus said, “whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”(Jn. 4:14 NKJV) Dolly’s Well went into operation in March, 2013 in the village of Moldeja, Guatemala. The added blessing was that it was shallow enough to operate with a hand pump so the solar pump that was planned for this well was installed at another site.
